- Monosodium glutamate, also known as sodium glutamate, is the sodium salt of glutamic acid.
- It is a flavor enhancer often added to restaurant foods, canned vegetables, soups, deli meats and other foods.
- MSG is found naturally in some foods including tomatoes and cheese in this glutamic acid form.
- It is used commercially in broths, soups, canned and frozen vegetables, flavouring and spice blends, gravies, meats, poultry, and sauces and in other combinations.
